Slip Sliding Away - WWCS for 2/12/2008

If you enjoyed last week's tasting, you won't want to miss this!
Especially if you like Full Bodied Red Wines, drinking well, with
some aging potential, and around $20.

Last week set the stage, and this week promises to continue the great
show!

We'll taste a really nice Syrah and Pinot Noir, both from California,
an atypical Chianti Classico (after tasting, we both said "Why can't you
ever find a Chianti this good in an Italian restaurant?, another Italian blend, and a surprisingly big, full bodied 04 California Cab.We'll have some nice cheese and crusty bread to complement.

Well, thanks to everyone for making and thanks to Tony for putting up with me during my ad-libbed assistance for the introduction. Thoughts are:

1. The pinot was something out of a dream with a midget. What do I mean, well, I would never have a dream with a midget in it but I would have never thought a Carneros pinot would have the character of Burgundy.
2. Was definitely bacon infused and who doesn't love bacon. I should do an all bacon dinner. That would be interesting.
3. Chianti - well Hungarian oak isn't that uncommon. I've seen it in Argentina. What we did have was a wine that met the palate of a bolognese sauce. Bring it on.
4. Our Super Tuscan. What can I say. I bought a bottle. How often does that happen!
5. Lodi Cabernet. Nice very much a wine that didn't have SPF 35 on it. Baked, rich and, well, surprisingly easy to drink. A fine value.
My last comment. Sarah, I would have, left John's ass in traffic. You are a good woman!
